Our Wines by Region - Loire Valley
Loire Valley The Loire Valley (FrenchVallée de la Loirepronounced: [va.le d? la lwa??]), spanning 280 kilometres (170 mi), is located in the middle stretch of the Loire River in central France. Its area comprises about 800 square kilometres (310 sq mi). It is referred to as the Cradle of the French Language, and the Garden of France due to the abundance of vineyards, fruit orchards (such ascherries), and artichoke and asparagus fields, which line the banks of the river. Notable for its historic towns, architecture and wines, the valley has been inhabited since the Middle Palaeolithic period. In 2000, UNESCO added the central part of the Loire River valley to its list of World Heritage Sites.

Congy Cuvée les Galfins Pouilly Fumé 2016 (#31-8)
$20.00

A delightfully different expression of the Sauvignon Blanc grape.  As compared with the minerality of the Sancerre and Menetou-Salon wines, the Pouilly-Fumé offers a pronounced declaration of fruit and flowers on the nose and, in the mouth, notes of ruby red grapefruit, lemon, papaya and kiwi.  There is a dry touch of slate on the lengthy finish.

Grapes:  100% Sauvignon Blanc

Region: Loire Valley Vineyard:  Domaine de Congy
Franck Millet Rosé 2017 (#23-33)
$19.50

From Limestone-Clay soil, this Sancerre Rosé is a blend of pressed and bled juice. The grapes pressed at harvest produce the pressed juice and the bled juice is the product of skin maceration. The must is then settled and low temperature fermentation begins. Light filtration and stainless steel tank aging.

Grape: Pinot Noir 100%

Region: Loire Valley Vineyard:  Domaine Franck Millet
Franck Millet Sancerre Blanc 2017 (#23-32)
$21.00

A powerful nose with aromatic qualities that are very representative of the limestone-clay soil found in the village of Bué. The wine has good acidity from the young vintage while at the same time displaying a surprising suppleness and roundness. This wine has a very long finish.

Grapes: Sauvignon Blanc

Pairings: White fish with a citrus sauce, lobster, scallops, white meats

Region: Loire Valley Vineyard:  Domaine Franck Millet
